I mentioned that I had had a very poor audio report the other day from a very honest operator and it had motivated me to spend a few hours setting the Yaesu Reference M-1 mic up properly.
Today there was a big SSB competition up in Scandinavia and I had a great time doing my little bit to keep it going. It’s confirmed for me that all my efforts to get the mic set up have paid off because every time I hit the PTT the other station came straight back to me with my callsign and we had a quick QSL. I even managed to beat a massive pileup to get through to the RSGB station GB3HQ at Milton Keynes on 40m first attempt.
A good day playing radio
