I’m Moving My Logbook to Ham Radio Deluxe

Ham Radio Deluxe Integration

I’ve been using Log4OM2 over the past 6 months which is a free to download and use bit of logging software. I’ve been very impressed with it and it’s integration with other application like WSJT-X and my QRZ.com logbook and lookup. All this integration makes logging calls very quick and easy because most of the information like name, location, band and frequency get entered for you.

What I did find however was a few CAT conflicts with the radio when using Log4OM2 and WSJY-X at the same time. One application would block the other. Not a massive issue but one I wanted to solve.

I’ve settled on using Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD). I use to use it many years ago when it was a free download but these days it costs £80. The thing I’m interested in is that HRD makes a CAT connection to the radio and then other applications like WSJT-X connect to HRD therefore eliminating the CAT conflicts.

Yesterday I set about replicating the connectivity between Log4OM2, WSJT-X and my QRZ logbook. So now I can make a QSO in WSJT-X, click on the “log QSO” button which fires the data into the HRD logbook and from there, HRD updates my QRZ logbook in a seamless operation.

Now I want to start exploring all the other functionality and see just what HRD can connect to.
